Sizzlin Summer Nights On 1st

The 11th Annual Downtown car and bike show known as Sizzlin' Summer Nights has become a popular event for the region as it supports 10,000 spectators make this event the largest car and bike show in the NE region of SD. An average of 300 cars and 150 bikes annually lined the streets of Downtown Aberdeen from a minimum of a 3 state region.

Due to Main Street undergoing a new streetscape which is taking place now, the Show has been moved 1 block west to 1st Street for 2010 only. 

Saturday 28th:
1-2 pm: "Paid Reserve" Parking allowed into escorted into show area - reserved fee is $20 per space. 

Reserved (fee) parking spaces will be sold to those who want early entrance into the show area for $20. No reserved parking spaces will be sold after Friday, August 20th. 

Those who have purchased a parking space must come onto 1st Street from East 1st Ave between 1 and 2 pm—parking spaces will be released to the general public for free parking at 3 pm. No refunds, no subletting space, no commercial enterprises (no dealerships), no ‘for sale’ vehicles. Reserved parking spaces will go on sale July 26th until August 20th. 3pm: General Parking (Free) escorted into show area from North Main. Vehicles will be parked on 1st Street, Avenues, and parking lots along 1st Street. 

4:00pm: Bikers meet at Melgaard Park 

4:30 pm: Bikers escorted into event from RR Ave. Biker parking space is on 1st Street - east side between RR and 1st Ave. 

9 pm: 2 ATV's given away! 

9 pm: Beer Garden opens and Band takes the stage for a FREE street dance - "Vermillion" is the band. This high energy band performs classic rock, Americana, country and rocks all taking place in the “Quest” lot located between 4th and 5th Avenues-west side of 1st Street. 

9:10 pm: Organized exit for those who wish to leave the event.

12 am - Band stops and beer garden close for evening. 

Sunday, August 29th:

9 am – food vendors open in the “Quest” lot located between 4th and 5th Avenues-west side of 1st Street.

10 am - non-denominational church service in Quest lot 

12 pm – 5th Annual Bug Run – open to all vehicles and bikes – a fun event where everyone competes to win prizes while touring neighboring communities. (Bug Run: try to get a bug to stick onto the center of your bulls eye). Participants will be escorted by the Police through Aberdeen to the highway. 

1 pm - event closes for 2010 

Neither of these activities are put on by the Aberdeen Downtown Association but are a partnership with the Zion Church and Spirit Riders Bike Club as an additional service and activity to those who attend Sizzlin Summer Nights.
